Our Christmas tree

I can't believe I have a real Christmas tree.

Since I gave Ashley my old artificial one, and we don't really want to spend $200 on a new pre-lit one, we opted to get a real tree.

So, off to Kluck's we went.

The whole fam damily. Minus Ashley and company.

I was pleasantly surprised. I kind of get why people do this year after year.

They have such a cool set up. Acres of trees to choose from. Christmas music playing. Bonfire. Hot chocolate. Candy canes. Hay ride.

Billy (I can't believe he came with us. He literally decided to come as we were pulling out of the driveway) cut down the tree. He and Brandon carried it to the check out. Josh and Sarah loaded it into Josh's truck and off we went with a complimentary popcorn ball.

The tree was $50 and, of course, we needed a stand so another $48. That's half what I'd have paid for my 9' pre-lit tree.

So, Mel said we should probably get another real tree next year to pay for the damn stand.

I was worried about Mel's frustration/patience level, because I remember years past how this was not a chore he looked forward to. But, the tree farm drilled a hole into the trunk of our tree which the handy dandy tree stand fits right into and there's no twisting those ridiculous screws into the tree trunk...so Mel was done with his part (with Josh's help) in about 2 minutes.

I strung the lights and we decorated it. I put ribbon around it this year, and thought Sarah would die and say it looked ridiculous, but nope. She loved it. It has the Sarah stamp of approval, so it must be good.

Our tree looks so perfect, it looks fake.

I almost wish I would've gotten a flawed one so it would look more real.

How ironic.

I wanted my fake tree to look more real, and now that I have a real tree it looks so perfect, it must be fake.

I absolutely love my tree.

Northwood vs U of M

I was sure Sarah's team was going to get their butts kicked.

At the beginning of the game I said to Brandon, "We're going to get killed, you know." and he said, "Mom, don't say that. Be positive."

Heh, heh...that's what I usually say to HIM.

Well. Brandon was right. Northwood kicked butt! We scored the first 12 points!!! Brandon turned around and yelled, "SEE MOM!!!"

It was fun. Brandon and Ryan went with Billy and Josh to the "student section" and cheered the whole game.

Sarah was FANTASTIC!!

It was definitely the highlight of her career.

We ended up losing by about 6 points, but they barely beat us.

It was awesome.
